This article explains how to manage or mute notifications in Blackboard Ultra, including activity stream, email, and push notifications. It guides students and instructors through customizing their preferences to reduce distractions while noting which critical notifications cannot be disabled.
To mute or pause notifications in Blackboard Ultra, you can customize your notification settings for different delivery methods: Activity Stream, Email, and Push Notifications. Here's how you can manage these settings:
1. Access Notification Settings

Log into your Blackboard Ultra account.

Click on your name or profile picture in the main menu to access your Profile page.

Under System Settings, select Global Notification Settings.
2. Manage Activity Stream Notifications

In the Notification Settings panel, select the Stream tab.

Here, you can choose which activities appear in your Activity Stream by checking or unchecking the boxes next to each notification type.

Note: Notifications for due dates, grades, and feedback always appear in your stream and cannot be turned off.
3. Manage Email Notifications

Select the Email tab in the Notification Settings panel.

Choose how often you want to receive emails:

Email me right away: Receive individual notifications for each activity you select.

Email me once a day: Receive a daily summary of selected activities.

Uncheck all boxes if you prefer not to receive email notifications.
4. Manage Push Notifications (Mobile App)

If you have the Blackboard mobile app installed, you can manage push notifications:

On the web: Navigate to your Activity Stream, click the Stream Settings icon, and select the Push Notification Settings tab.

In the app: Tap the Settings icon in the main menu and manage your push notification preferences.

Choose which push notifications you want to receive by toggling the options on or off.

Note: Due date push notifications always appear one day before the due date and cannot be turned off.
